December Spoken Word Poetry Challenge!

Your challenge: write a spoken word poem that expresses an issue you are passionate about! Maybe it’s about body image; maybe it’s about race; maybe it’s about school or jobs or friends and family. Whatever it is, write it! Submit a link to your work here.  Submissions due: Monday 12/19

**Spoken word poetry is “intended for performance.” It “has its roots in oral traditions and performance.” Spoken word poetry can “contain elements of rap, hip-hop, storytelling, theater, and jazz, rock, blues, and folk music.” It is primarily characterized “by rhyme, repetition, improvisation, and word play.” Spoken word poems often “refer to issues of social justice, politics, race, and community.”

Bonus: Bring it to the poetry slam or send us a video of your performance to post!
