Surprise
By: Diamonique Kelly

Waking up to the Christmas tree light,
And looking under to find a more pleasant sight.
With a smile from ear to ear,
Just because you know Santa has been here.

Snooping around the stockings and presents,
Wondering if Santa brought you what you wish was sent.
Anxious and excited,
Your presents are getting your attention that’s undivided.

Playing with the bows and wrapping,
Your patience began snapping,
You open one up,
And you see it’s a pup.
